我们说的不一样，我说的是business expense（你自己的business用你自己的房间做
home office），然后deduct rent。
你说的是作为一个employee，用自己家的房间做home office，那是employment
related expense，是itemized deduction

itemized deduction will be added back for AMT purpose。你的例子就这个意思。

I think the answer might be "it depends".

It depends on one's situation as referred in the last paragraph.

So put in those numbers as well as the mortgage interests. VA resident may have a big advantage on this since the state/local tax is much lower.
